Less well known is working at trade fairs and events. The Stuttgart grounds sit up on the Filder plateau, right beside the airport – ten halls plus the ICS congress centre. Add the arenas in the Neckarpark and the Wagenhalle in the north. All of them need staff at short notice.

Stuttgart is shaped unusually: the city centre lies in a basin, vineyards and long flights of steps rise all around, and the exhibition grounds sit up on the Filder plateau. If you live in the valley, you travel uphill to work. In return the suburban train always takes the same time, however jammed the roads in the basin are.

Up on the Filder plateau
The grounds are beside the airport, not in the valley. From Vaihingen or Möhringen you are there quickly; from the centre the train takes just under half an hour.
Trade visitors, not passing crowds
Stuttgart is dominated by fairs for industry and skilled trades. Visitors arrive with a specific question. That makes the work calmer than at a public fair.

Getting around in Stuttgart
The S2 and S3 run to Flughafen/Messe for the grounds. From the city centre that takes just under half an hour, from Vaihingen and Möhringen considerably less. The ICS stands on the same site.
At the University of Stuttgart, the University of Hohenheim, the Cooperative State University and the Stuttgart Media University, lecture periods run from mid-October to mid-February and from mid-March to mid-July. The Cooperative State University alternates between theory and practice phases; during practice phases weekends usually stay free. Hohenheim itself already sits halfway up towards the plateau.

What you need to bring – and when it does not fit
What you should bring
- You are of legal age. We do not place anyone younger.
- You have a permission to work in Germany. We check this before your first assignment.
- You keep your free days up to date in your profile. Only then do you get requests that fit your calendar.
- What you accept, you do. If something comes up, tell us early, not on the day of the assignment.
- You understand everyday German well enough to follow instructions and to answer short visitor questions.
- You pick up a new task quickly, because a lot is explained only on site.
Part-time work with us does not fit if …
- You need a fixed monthly income. The fair calendar on the plateau has full weeks and long pauses.
- The trip up to the Filder is too far for you. From the main station it is just under thirty minutes on the S2 or S3.
- You are looking for work you can do sitting down. At registration and admission you stand for almost the whole shift.
Questions about part-time work in Stuttgart
How often a month can I work in Stuttgart?
As often as you enter free days. During a specialist fair such as LogiMAT several days in a row are usual, after which things quieten down. We do not require a minimum.
How do I get to the grounds by the airport?
Take the S2 or S3 to the Flughafen/Messe station. From the main station that takes just under half an hour, from Vaihingen and Möhringen considerably less.
Does this fit alongside studying at the University of Stuttgart or the DHBW?
Yes. For students at the Cooperative State University the practice phases work well, because weekends stay free then. During exam periods you simply enter no days.
Do I need technical knowledge for the specialist fairs?
No. Registration, admission and looking after guests need no specialist knowledge. If you are to explain a product, you are trained beforehand. An interest in technology helps, nothing more.
Is this a mini-job?
It depends how much you work with us and what else you do. Which form of employment suits you is something we clarify before you take your first assignment.
Does the placement cost me anything?
No. We are not a portal charging fees. You are employed by us and receive your wages directly from us.
